Stepping Stones Bexley is a long day care service that caters for children 0-6 years.
The service is open 50 weeks a year and is closed for public holidays.

Today, our community came together for a fantastic...

Today, our community came together for a fantastic cause as we hosted our RED Sale in support of @rednoseday and SIDS awareness. We’re thrilled to share that our bake sale was a tremendous success, with over $200 raised to contribute directly to the Red Nose organisation!

Our children were actively involved, not only in the buying and selling but also in the baking! They created a wonderful selection of treats, including smartie cookies, personalized red nose pops, Elmo cupcakes, red playdough and Oreo red nose pops. Each item was thoughtfully paired with SIDS safety tips to help spread awareness of this important cause.

Our customers left with smiles and some delicious sweet treats, knowing their contributions are making a difference.

A huge thank you to all of our families who supported this event and continue to stand by our service in raising awareness about reducing the risk of SIDS. Your ongoing support is invaluable, and together, we are helping to create safer environments for babies everywhere. #rednoseday🔴

Last night, we had the pleasure of hosting a professional development workshop led by psychologist Marina Bailey. The event. ‘Gather & Graze’, was a collaborative effort, bringing together educators not only from our own Bexley and Kirrawee services but also from @peakhurstearlylearningcentre_ and @mylittlesunshine.elc Penshurst. This gathering was a testament to our commitment to fostering professional collaboration and strengthening ties across different early childhood education settings.

The workshop was designed to empower educators with the necessary skills and strategies for effectively supporting and managing challenging behaviours in young children. Marina Bailey’s insights provided invaluable guidance in creating nurturing and inclusive learning environments.

Each participant was treated to a personalised charcuterie box and enjoyed home-baked lemon muffins, adding a delightful touch to the evening’s refreshments. Additionally, we prepared sensory bottle gifts, which serve as engaging resources that the attending centres could take back and integrate into their daily practices.

The event was not just about professional development; it was also a vibrant exchange of ideas and experiences among passionate educators. It was heartening to witness the enthusiasm and dedication of everyone involved, making it a memorable and impactful occasion for all.

Part 2 of this event will take place at our Kirrawee service, featuring Marina Bailey’s workshop centred on supporting children in distress. We are enthusiastic about continuing our collaborative efforts with other early learning services that share our strong commitment to professional growth and development. It is through these partnerships that we aim to foster a supportive community where educators can exchange knowledge, refine their skills, and collectively enhance the quality of early childhood education.

At SS we hold what we call “Wellness Wednesday,” dedicated to nurturing the mental and emotional health of our educators and staff. Yesterday’s Wellness Wednesday was particularly special as we focused on promoting gratitude and camaraderie among our team.

As part of this initiative, we created gratitude jars for our educators. These jars serve as a platform for team members to express their appreciation and admiration for each other by sharing uplifting messages. It’s been heartwarming to see our staff celebrate one another’s strengths and achievements in this way.

Additionally, we introduced a team snack box filled with special treats for our educators to enjoy together. Small gestures like these not only show our appreciation but also create moments for our team to relax, connect, and recharge during their busy day.

We believe that supporting the wellbeing of our educators directly contributes to a positive and nurturing environment for your children. By fostering a culture of gratitude and providing moments of relaxation and enjoyment, we aim to enhance both the professional and personal lives of our dedicated team.

Today, we had the privilege of consolidating our...

Today, we had the privilege of consolidating our week’s learning about ANZAC Day with a very special visit from Alan and Peter, two servicemen from @kingsgroversl .

To reflect on our learning, this morning before the visit, we engaged in a floor book experience, revisiting key concepts and moments from our ANZAC Day discussions. Following this, we dedicated time to brainstorming questions we wanted to ask Alan and Peter.

During their visit, Alan and Peter graciously shared their stories, including insights into their medals, the significance of their uniforms, and their experiences supporting their comrades in times of need. We concluded the visit by presenting them with a special thank-you card crafted by our class and sharing the ANZAC biscuits we had baked as a token of our appreciation.
