Today at Stepping Stones, we had the privilege of hosting a special event that brought the excitement and importance of emergency medical services right to our doorstep. Two remarkable parents from our community, Amy and Ash—both dedicated paramedics—brought an ambulance to our centre to share their expertise with our eager young learners.
The day began with a buzz of anticipation as groups of children gathered around the ambulance, eager to learn about its purpose and the equipment inside. With Amy and Ash as their guides, the children quickly grasped the significance of emergency lights and siren protocols, enthusiastically sharing their newfound knowledge.
The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the hands-on experiences inside the ambulance. Some children took on the role of paramedics, learning how to apply bandages, checking their “patients'” heart rates, and exploring the oxygen equipment used to assist those in need. Amy and Ash patiently answered questions and ensured each child had a chance to engage with the equipment—a thrilling and educational experience for all involved.
The excitement peaked when the children eagerly hopped onto the stretchers for a fun ride, bringing laughter and smiles as they experienced a small taste of what it might be like to receive care in an ambulance.
